Mathkins Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

Mathkins ("the app") is a math practice app for children, made by Vishnu M S. The app works on your device. The only things it ever sends are an anonymous crash report if the app breaks, and a feedback message if you choose to send one (see below).

The short version

What is stored on the device

To personalise the experience, the app stores a few things in its private storage on the device:

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see it.

Crash reports

When the app crashes or hits a serious error, it sends a crash report using Firebase Crashlytics, a service provided by Google. A crash report contains technical details only:

Crash reports never include the child's name, photo, answers or progress, and are not used for advertising or tracking. They are used only to find and fix bugs. Google processes them on our behalf under the Firebase data processing terms and keeps them for up to 90 days. See also Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Feedback you send us

Settings has a Contact us / Send feedback form. It is meant for grown-ups (the screen says "Ask a grown-up to help you"). Nothing is sent unless you fill it in and tap Send. When you do, we receive:

It is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (part of Firebase, provided by Google) in the asia-south1 (Mumbai) region, under the Firebase data processing terms. Only we can read it; other app users cannot. We use it only to reply to and improve Mathkins, never for advertising. We delete each message within 6 months of receiving it. Please don't include a child's full name, school, address or other personal details in your message. To have a message you sent deleted, email us (see Contact) with the name and roughly when you sent it.

Backups and moving to a new phone

The child's name and profile photo are excluded from Android's cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer, so they never leave the device. Practice progress and settings may be included in your own Android backup if you have backups turned on. Google manages that backup under your Google account.

Permissions

The app uses the internet only to send crash reports and feedback you choose to send. It does not ask for location, camera, contacts or microphone permissions. When you pick a profile photo, Android's own picker lets you choose one image, and the app only receives that image.

If a grown-up turns on the daily practice reminder, Android may ask for permission to show notifications. The reminder is created on the device and nothing is sent anywhere. The app also re-schedules the reminder after the device restarts.

If spoken narration is turned on, it uses the text-to-speech engine that is already installed on the device.

Deleting data

You can remove the profile photo or change the name in the app's Settings. You can clear all practice progress in Settings > For grown-ups > Reset all progress. To delete everything, uninstall the app or go to Android Settings > Apps > Mathkins > Storage > Clear storage.

Children's privacy

Mathkins is designed for children. The app does not collect personal information from children. Data leaves the device only as the anonymous crash report described above, or as a feedback message someone deliberately sends with the feedback form. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through that form, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If a future version changes anything that affects privacy (for example, adding an online feature), we will update this policy and the date above before that version is released.
